Dr. Andersen brings more than two decades of psychiatric practice and investigator experience dating to 2011. He served as an investigator at Aspen Clinical Research from 2011 to 2024 and joined Boeson as a principal investigator in Provo in 2024.

Clinical and research leadership: His career includes medical direction of Utah Integrative Psychiatry and Addiction, inpatient psychiatric leadership at Mountain View Hospital, service as Psychiatry Department Chairman at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center and an assistant professorship at the University of South Dakota.

Research experience: His Boeson PI portfolio includes major depressive disorder, ADHD, opioid-use disorder and Alzheimer’s disease. His broader career research spans adult and pediatric populations, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, postpartum depression, Tourette’s disorder, insomnia and cognitive disorders, including randomized trials and long-term extension studies.

Training: DO, Oklahoma State University School of Medicine; osteopathic internship, Genesys Regional Medical Center; psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship training, University of South Dakota School of Medicine.

Study interests: In addition to psychiatric and addiction research, Dr. Andersen welcomes obesity, weight-loss, diabetes and metabolic studies, with particular interest in GLP-1 treatments and their psychiatric effects. His psychiatric expertise brings a valuable clinical perspective to protocols examining mental health alongside metabolic outcomes.
