Principal Investigator | Women's Health
Dr. Alyson Miser, MD
Hey! I am Dr. Alyson Miser. I’m a physician at Great Falls OBGYN Associates and have been serving the wonderful community here in Great Falls Montana since 2015. I earned my Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh and completed my Internship and Residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the David Grant USAF Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California. I became board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology and then had the honor of serving as an Attending Physician for the United States Air Force at Malcolm Grow Medical Center in Joint Base Andrews, Maryland from 2003 to 2007.
Originally hailing from Philadelphia, I moved to Montana in 2012 with my husband and two daughters. When I’m not caring for my patients, I enjoy an active life. In the summer & fall, I run 1-3 half marathons/year, with my favorite being the Missoula half marathon, and in the winter I love hitting the slopes for skiing and snowboarding. On quieter days, I enjoy reading, puzzles, and I also play a mean game of Uno. I am fluent in Spanish and have a passion for traveling and attending concerts all over the country. I like to argue that an Uncrustable is the perfect ratio of jelly to peanut butter and you cannot tell me otherwise.
I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing firsthand how medical advancements have been made through Clinical Research as an Investigator for the Great Falls Boeson Research team.

Principal Investigator | Pediatrics
Dr. Renee Johnson, MD
Hello, I am Dr. Renee Johnson. I’m originally from New Mexico, but I moved to Montana in 2020 and absolutely love it here. I’m a busy mom to six wonderful children, five boys and one girl, and we’re all learning Spanish together. When I’m not working, you can often find me skiing & ice skating in the winter time or hiking & attending sports events with my family in the summertime.
My academic journey started at the University of Northern Colorado where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. It was also where I met my husband! I initially dreamed of working in a CDC lab but, during my studies, I felt a strong pull towards patient care and decided to switch gears to pursue a doctorate in medicine.
While at the Pennsylvania State College of Medicine, I discovered my passion for pediatrics and knew it was the right path for me. I completed my internship and residency in general pediatrics at the University of Utah and have now been a Pediatrician at Northwest Physicians since 2021. My work as a Pediatrician within this community has been incredibly fulfilling.
I have always had a passion for research and I enjoy being a part of the Great Falls Boeson Research team to help advance future medicine/healthcare for children.

Principal Investigator | Family Medicine
Dr. Justin Buls, MD
Hi everyone! I’m Dr. Buls but I prefer for my patients to call me Justin. I was born and raised right here in Kalispell, MT. Class of 95! My family means the world to me. I have 6 wonderful children and an amazing wife that I wouldn’t know what to do without. We all love to spend time outdoors whether it be fishing, hunting, riding dirt bikes, skiing, or playing in the lake. My children also keep us very busy with their athletics year-round with basketball, football, and dance. Not only are they athletic but they all are super smart, they get it from their mom! If you ask my Mom she would tell you from a very young age that I knew I was going to be a doctor. It was always a dream of mine, no questions asked. Helping people was in my genes. My mom worked in the school system and my dad was a paramedic/firefighter. There isn’t anything in the world greater than helping people achieve optimal health. My biggest flex is I listen to my patients. I have spent many days a patient myself so I can empathize with them. I want to make things better for an all-around better health mentally, physically, and emotionally.
I attended Montana State University and received a Bachelor’s of Science in Microbiology. From there I was accepted into the University of North Dakota School of Medicine. My family medicine residency training was done at Altru Family Medicine Residency in Grand Forks, North Dakota. I also completed a one-year fellowship in high risk obstetrics training. After graduation, I worked as a rural full spectrum family medicine physician which then brought me to become an educator for residents.
